Meet the team!

At the heart of our program is a mother daughter duo working side by side in the daily training and management of the program.
Macayla Sousa
Macayla is a young professional and third-generation horsewoman with a lifelong background and success in the equitation, hunters, and jumpers. She competed successfully throughout her junior career and continued to do so at the collegiate level on the Division I equestrian team at Sacred Heart University. She rode on both NCEA and IHSA teams. During her time in college, she earned numerous accolades, including High Point Rider and Most Outstanding Player awards.
Since graduating in 2024, she declared her professional status and shifted her primary focus to training both horse and rider. Her training emphasizes starting young horses correctly, producing them step by step, and bringing out their full potential. She hopes to pass this philosophy and “knack” down to the next future generation of horse women. She emphasizes the importance of providing knowledge of correct horse care, the ability to work through problems, and management skills to her students.
With a real niche for ponies, she is a true specialist and the one for all your pony needs. She has years of experience working extensively with developing pony hunters from the first ABC’s to the final touches. With experience in the pony hunter breeding classes, showing in the division on a multitude of ponies as a junior, and working extensively with a pony farm as a professional, she undeniably can fill all of your pony needs! And she fits on the smalls! She has abundant resources and industry connections to source quality lease and sale ponies.

Nicole
She grew up spending countless hours in the saddle, covering miles of trails with family and friends and developing a deep, lifelong connection to horses. That early passion led her to attend the Johnson & Wales University Equine Management program, where she furthered her education and rode as a member of their IHSA team.
As an adult, she’s spent her life passing the “pony obsession” torch down to her own kids while continuing to share her knowledge with the next generation of riders. With over 15 years of experience teaching young riders, she focuses on building strong fundamentals, solid horsemanship, and confident partnerships between horse and rider.
She has a special appreciation for groundwork and the early training of young horses, enjoying the process of setting them up for long-term success through clear communication and thoughtful handling. She believes every horse is an individual and finds great satisfaction in understanding each horse’s unique personality, behavior, and psychology—because great riding always starts with understanding the horse first.
